Well, there's this post, but I do not necessarily endorse the views of either of the participants involved. I think the neglect to incorporate Jake-the-penpal into a model of the nature of Jade's trauma is a crime. Grandpa confusing Jade for his Grandma suggests the idea of an elderly person afflicted by dementia, leading to Jade needing to raise her own damn self. Grandpa's death as a symbol for his declining neurological function is incompatible with Grandpa's death as a literal murder Jade committed because of symbolic sexual assault.

Interpreting Jade's backstory in more mundane terms is not my specialty, so I'd probably be too confused to tell you what the people in the tumblr post are thinking.

But if you want what I think, Grandpa's fascination with mummies, animal taxidermy, skulls, and blue beauties suggests a fixation on death. This is interpreted as necrophilia, but I don't think this has to do with Jade. I get the impression that Grandpa's tendency to go on dangerous, thrilling escapades are a way for him to flirt with death, to put him in near-death experiences.

Grandpa the Teddy Roosevelt lookin mother fucker wants to piss off some big game as well as Egyptian and Indigenous spirits so he decorates his homes with as many haunted items as possible so that these ghosts will beat the snot out of him. Then it's too spooky for him to handle, so he fucks off elsewhere, leaving his children in haunted houses out of negligence. Only in his declining condition is he forced to settle in one place.

I'm sorry, this is an older post, but I was just catching up on the thread and couldn't help but notice this. I simply can't let this grievous error go uncorrected. The smussy (smuppet pussy) is where you put your hand in the puppet to control it, so it makes no sense for it to be on the chest. If the smussy (smuppet pussy) was on the chest then when you were putting on a puppet show, your arm would be on full display to the audience, totally breaking the immersion! No, Doc Scratch's smussy (smuppet pussy) is clearly located on the small of his back. I can see why one could make the mistake of thinking it's his chest, since globe head has no features to easily distinguish front from back with, but here's an easy way to tell: If it were his chest, the buttons from the front of his shirt would be visible.
