Ever seen a lightning strike? - or the effects?

First time I can remember seeing the direct effects of a lightning strike is sixth grade when a tree at my school got basically blown up by one. you could find a piece of bark halfway across the campus. Any of y'all ever seen one?

I live in Florida so lightning strikes A LOT. I've seen it split trees in half, scorch marks on the ground, you name it. It's struck my house a couple times. The burning smell right after it happens is intense.

My grandpa was struck by lightning before my dad was born, I like to joke that our family has lightning powers that haven't been unlocked yet lol.
My grandpa's still alive now and he's 98 and is a pretty cool dude
