March 20th, 2024: The book I read was "Looking Backward", which I read in the year 2000 (24 YEARS AGO LOL) so hopefully I'm remembering it correctly, but that really struck me at the time. Turns out it wasn't the only "so close and yet so far" image of the year 2000 from around the same era - check out these robot musicians! (Here's the full set.)– Ryan
