Re: Unpopular Opinions Thread

I never really thought about how weird it is that Dave doesn't use his time powers to save Jade in Game Over despite having just used them to save the mayor.

Re: Candy Kids Appreciation and Discussion thread

I'm really interested to see what happens to these obvious future protagonists of the story. I still don't know why Vriska and Tavros are just.. named after vriska or tavros, instead of having their own names in the first place. Did their parents not think of giving them a new name? At all? What's ...

Re: Does Hussie even run WhatPumpkin anymore?

He chose to create whatpumpkin, he chose to continue Hiveswap's production. Epilogue was entirely his idea. And the very idea that the people he hired out for Whatpumpkin would take over writing Homestuck's sequel was, again, entirely his idea. He owns homestuck and its related stuff. I know he own...

Re: I don't think Hussie's going to make anything that isn't Homestuck anymore

He's writing for homestuck 2, according to the credits page/some of the other authors' tweets. Well, he wrote a general synopsis of where the story would be going, but as far as I can tell he's not writing any of the actual words that we will be reading One of the writers tweeted something along th...

https://www.homestuck.com/epilogues/candy/14 Yours is a singularity of narcissism—an endlessly recursive existence so dense that it has no choice but to sprawl out much further than the boundaries of its person in any given universe or timeline. Re: I don't think Hussie's going to make anything that isn't Homestuck anymore

I'd say the thing I'm going to miss most about any projects headed by Hussie going forward is his sense of humor during his earlier career, before Homestuck really took off. Without that kind of writing that isn't afraid to be offensive (so long as it's funny), I don't think Homestuck will ever be ...

Re: THE DIRKCOURSE THREAD

EXCUSE ME I'M WRITING AN ESSAY TO DISPUTE THE IDEA THAT DIRK IS LITERALLY EVER MANIPULATIVE OR ABUSIVE EVEN ONCE EXCLUDING THE EPILOGUES. Like seriously I am legit looking for instances of Dirk, in the comic, doing anything actually awful, of Dirk doing anything actually manipulative, or actually a...

I request evidence of him loving his friends when he has clearly been extremely abusive and controlling toward all three of them.

Here's an excellent example of that, courtesy of one of the HS2 writers.

Re: Can I ask for positive opinions on Epilogues/HS^2?

I loved the epilogues. Sure, they're kind of depressing, and I wish that they ended a little more conclusively instead of on a cliffhanger, but they really did alleviate a lot of my problems with later homestuck, the ending in particular. Post retcon was 90% characters having conversations about not...

Re: Unpopular Opinions Thread

Here's a truly controversial take: Ultimate Dirk is an anti-hero who's trying to save the familiar Homestuck canon from post-canon fuckery. Ultimate Dirk started post-canon fuckery I'm pretty sure the writer commentary on HS^2 says that Ultimate Dirk represents Acts 1-5 fans/fans of "Homestuck prop...

Re: The Dark Souls Thread

Every Soulsborne game (plus Sekiro) is good, (I've played them all except for DS2), but I feel like the series is becoming a little too formulaic without noticable improvement from entry to entry. Most of my negative opinions on the series are the same as the ones expressed in Matthewmatosis' Lost S...

Re: New Pesterquest Routes confirmed!

So since Aradia is apparently alive, Tavros is probably going to be the main time for us to adress the fact that Vriska did in fact "do a lot of shit wrong." I hope and pray that gets adressed and its not just Tavros saying, "iTS oKAY vRISKA, i tOTALLY fORGIVE yOU fOR tRYING tO kILL mE aND lEAVING ...

Re: I hate the whole "canon discussion" the series has taken

so yeah, act 6 onwards DID have a major tone shift with the ghost writers and made a lot of people turn off homestuck because they HATED the "side" of the fandom that was taking over. There were no ghost writers. I'm not a big fan of act 6, but Hussie has said multiple times that everything in it w...

I wish Collide had had at least one character weaponizing their sylladex again. Huge missed opportunity that would have been really easy to include.

Dirk because he's the best villain the comic has had since Jack Noir.

I also like him a lot pre-epilogues.

I like the epilogues a lot. I think this is more of a split base opinion than a wholly unpopular one.
