Curiosity here 2 kill the cat.

We all have our favorite characters.
Even if some of them are controversial and have done some not-too-great things, they still manage to get through to us.

And to that I say to each their own, y'know. :-)
But I’m TOTALLY curious.

Who are your favorite HS characters?

Not including Friendsim / Hiveswap / Beyond Canon.
Just the classic cast of the lovable crew. :-)

I’ll start things off with a long-time favorite.

Calliope for sure! Although Caliborn's pretty excellent too. I just really like cherubs a lot

Roxy.

Karkat, with Eridan and a close second.

My favorite is Eridan! Karkat and Feferi follow close behind

Caliborn stan until I die

Caliborn all the way, but terezi is a close second.

I prefer Dave over everybody, his personality is hilarious and represents one of a close friend I had a few years ago.

That's G3 for ya. For me, if we are talking in terms of design, )(IC or Mindfang, but in terms of my ability to relate and their important to the story, Rose or Terezi.

Trolls: Eridan
Kids: John
Cherubs: Caliborn
Carapacians: Spades Slick
Overall I'd probably say John though.

very hard to chose between vriska, terezi, and jade, so i'll just say all three ::::O

If we're talking about trolls, Karkat with Terezi in second place
As for kids, Roxy for sure

the strilondes kill the enby. dave will probably always be my favorite forever and ever because of the way he grows across the comic and... also i just think he's funny as hell. i love his musical motifs and the things he struggles with and i loved seeing where he ended up by the end of homestuck proper. there's just a lot about him that's lovable as hell.

rose is much the same but in a more waspish way? she's mega relatable lmao. and roxyyyyy!! i love them so much. dirk is a can of worms but i love him too, and i love all the splinters the striders seem to spawn. davesprite and hal? best boys. davesprite's ultimate end as davepeta gets me with feelings.

BUT final answer: dave. always dave.

You managed to snag the same few other favorites as me dhhssjd. <:-D

To be honest I actually like a lot of the Homestuck cast. But I'd say my main favorites have to be Terezi, Karkat, Dave, and Vriska in no particular order. Probably because I've met some of my closest Homestuck friends and we explored a lot with those characters? But I also love the beta kids, plus Roxy. And Kanaya is great too. Also Nepeta? And Calliope? Basically, I love a lot of them. I have trouble disliking any of them explicitly. But my favorites are probably more to do with how much I've written for them in fanfic or roleplay because I just ended up forcibly getting closer to them that way.

EDIT: I realize probably a pretty straightforward answer to this, delayedly, is that my favorites are probably based on who I've written for and who is the most fun to write. Vriska wasn't a favorite of mine before. But now? Oh my god. She is SO fun to write she is a MESS.

Equius, Caliborn, Eridan and UltDirk are the best written characters in Homestuck so they are naturally my favorites as a result.
