It seems like a series of nonsense is keeping them from getting back on track with homestuck 2 for the foreseeable. I am guessing Kate stepping out might be one of them too. So they likely have a lot of restructuring to do.

The last time they delayed a chapter they announced beforehand that it would happen and that it was due to outside circumstances, instead of a last minute "oh yeah, um, it's delayed." So it is looking like a near end of the month update, not a delay to next month which has been stated as the break ...

Its almost the end of the month and we haven't had the second update let alone a bonus. I think its possible that either they are gonna release either or both over the next two days or they might cheat a little and release them early next month because they don't ahve any others they are doing then....
