Re: THE DIRKCOURSE THREAD

I've always felt rather skeeved out by the notion that Dirk, or indeed, any character, is such an intrinsically bad person that the platonic ideal of their existence is practically a supervillain. For a story about characters attempting to beat the odds against and subvert pre-destination, there's ...

Re: Can I ask for positive opinions on Epilogues/HS^2?

This was cool!! I think showing two different paths that Roxy could have taken based on their life situation was a really interesting way to write a trans character that wasn't just the cookie cutter "I've always felt this way" kinda thing. Handled much better than a June or Vriska situation would ...

Re: THE DIRKCOURSE THREAD

Its said as much that Dirk kinda strong armed the relationship a bit. Also Lilhal man. Lilhal is hated so much by Dirk cause he is a representation of his thoughts and narcissism. Not cause of his ai nonsense, but because he expresses the negative traits Dirk desperately tries to isolate and hide. ...

Re: THE DIRKCOURSE THREAD

Did Dirk contemplate gender or not? Idk, I'm just kind of sad. I wish Dirk (real Dirk, not the Brain Ghost) and Jake could be nonbinary mlm together. I mean, I wish Dirk were some flavor of trans in general, but you brought up Taz's medium articles so I guess that's why I'm going with that one righ...

Re: How did you perceive the carapacian war on skaia?

I didn't really care about it in my first read, but I think it's a lot more interesting now, and wish it had gotten a bit more attention later on. WV talking to John continues to be one of my favorite sections of the comic and I'd have loved to see more carapacian-player interaction (though I guess ...

Re: THE DIRKCOURSE THREAD

He did have time to change, but he's also a dude that has never asked for help before, and probably wouldn't even consider it. Has this whole complex of raising his own damn self ever since he was an infant. Like, on his own, he'll be like "I have a big, smart, philosophy brain. Maybe if I think re...

Re: What is the normal variation of Lose to Gains in large Patreons?

There is always a bigger loss at the beginning of the month, and then a gradual increase throughout the rest of it. I'll probably end up pledging at some point once I've got a paycheck coming in.

Re: Can I ask for positive opinions on Epilogues/HS^2?

I thought Roxy's approach to gender in both routes was sweet, and enjoyed reading their interactions and thoughts about their body in Candy.

I've seen some forums with the option to jump to the next unread topic from whichever topic you're currently viewing. Would that be possible to implement here?

Re: Unpopular Opinions Thread

Sorry, bluh, Homestuck^2, not 1. My bad. Here’s the link: https://homestuck2.com/story/33 thank you! i didn't remember that at all haha. Yeah I do think CWs are important but I think my preference is to have them for the work as a whole instead of just for specific chapters, especially for somethin...

Re: Unpopular Opinions Thread

Homestuck^1 (before chapter 1) is what I was referring to, sorry for the confusion. desu i think you might need to link it for me but thank you for clarifying! - I'm not saying a familiarity is necessary, but at least in the week between the content warnings' release and the story itself, they were...

Re: Unpopular Opinions Thread

I really didn't see any evidence that the Epilogue's content warnings were supposed to be making fun of content warnings/being disingenuous or misleading. I think it was V that said the Epilogue content warnings were poking fun, specifically, at AO3's tagging system which would, in fact, mix things...

Re: Unpopular Opinions Thread

Also this will likely be very controversial but tagging your “content warnings” before every scene occurs in such an overt way (without at least putting them in a clickable spoiler with the words CONTENT WARNING above them so that they can, if need be, ignored) basically ruins any semblance of subv...

Re: THE DIRKCOURSE THREAD

I'm kind of dumb so I'm not really sure what Dirk's arc was meant to be before it changed trajectory. I'm assuming you mean his arc within the comic, before the Epilogues shifted it, right? I think Dirk's arc in Homestuck is best understood in two parts: as another changed trajectory, this time fro...

Re: Tales from Sburbia - A Human Fan Session

Heyo, do you have anything in mind for structure/pacing and post length here? I'm interested in trying something like this but I'm busy with some life stuff and can't commit to anything requiring daily posts (but less frequent, higher effort messages are fine if that's what you were thinking of doin...

Re: On the future of Homestuck

I don't think we should have writers work on characters they love, as that leads to idealizing of the characters and authors projecting themselves onto the characters. We've already seen such happen with Vriska, and such love and sympathy given to her ruins what makes her interesting: her complexit...

Re: On the future of Homestuck

I agree it would be nice to have members of the writing crew who have disagreements or alternate interpretations of the story/characters. If Gamzee's route were written by someone who understands and loves Gamzee pre-Murderstuck, it might have gotten a different reception than the one we received, ...

Re: Which characters needed more attention and why?

I liked Jake a lot but I'd like him more if he was given more nonromantic attention. He's kind of a mess but he's sweet and some of his conversations hinted at more interesting stuff we didn't really focus on, e.g. feeling like he's only into adventuring because he's supposed to (& how that ties int...
